CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team fell in a back-and-forth battle with its Eastern Shore rival, Washington College, 5-4 on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first doubles tandem of Brad Pappalardo and Gianluca Beaujon took down the 11th-ranked team in the Atlantic South Region, Karl Hoegstedt and Andrew Smith, 8-5.
- Christopher Catan and Mitchell Desman held the 7-2 lead over Washington's Koby Bonta and Landon Strober in second doubles but were victims of a rally and fell in the tiebreaker, 8-7(7-4).
- Every match except for No. 1 singles went the full three sets.
- Beaujon and Russell Willenborg won their first sets in second and third singles but dropped the second set in their respective matches. Beaujon rolled in the third set to take the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in second singles over Strober while Willenborg notched the 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win in third singles against Bonta.
- Jhayden Pappas played a marathon first-set with Aaradith Ravichandran but stormed back in the second and third sets to take the match in sixth singles 6-7(12-14), 6-3, 6-4.
- Catan also played a tough three-setter in fourth singles against Ryohei Kawai but Kawai won the third-set tiebreaker and the match, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3).
