NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team dropped its first match in over two weeks, bowing to the 40th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at Eyre Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Sea Gulls' only victory of the day came in a thrilling first doubles match. Gianluca Beaujon and Brad Pappalardo outlasted the Captains' Ryan Macy and Alec Strause to win 8-7 (9-7).
- Pappalardo almost pulled off just as thrilling a victory in first singles against Macy. After dropping the first set 6-3, Pappalardo took the second set 6-3 and engaged in a long tiebreaker before ultimately falling 12-10.
- Jhayden Pappas competed well in sixth singles, pushing Mason Kolls to a tiebreaker in the first set before dropping the matchup 7-5, 6-1.

- The Sea Gulls return home to open a four-match homestand against No. 30 TCNJ on Sunday morning.
