Men’s Tennis downs Goucher, 9-0

Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team swept through the Goucher Gophers, 9-0, on Friday for its first win of the 2023 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Salisbury started off the match with a doubles sweep. In first doubles, Gianluca Beaujon and Mitchell Desman powered through Jackson Beam and Calis Nguyen, 8-6. Russell Willenborg and Jhayden Pappas picked up an 8-2 win in second doubles.
In their first match together, Aron Bursztyn and Jacob Berg cruised to an 8-3 win in third doubles over Gabe Naftoly and Theo Lucke.
Salisbury continued the momentum with a singles sweep over Goucher, all in straight sets.
Gavin Reagle battled in fifth singles with Naftoly but prevailed, 7-6(7), 6-1
In his singles debut, Desman took down Lucke, 6-0, 6-2.
Christopher Catan, Beaujon, Pappas and Burstzyn also rolled in straight sets in their respective matches.

UP NEXT

Salisbury will be back in action tomorrow when they host the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins.
The match is set for an 11 a.m. start at the Indoor Tennis Center.
