Men’s Golf finishes strong, takes 12th at Melee Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's golf team shaved six strokes off its first-round total, finishing strong in the final round of The Melee Invitational on Monday at Ford's Colony Country Club.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 33-over 321 collectively in the round, finishing the two-day tournament at a 72-over 648. SU easily bested 13th-place Arcadia (661) while finishing within five strokes of Penn State Altoona (643).
 
ROUND NOTES
  • Ryan Henneman posted the strongest round of the tournament for the Sea Gulls, shooting a two-over 74 with birdies on four, nine, and 18. Henneman ultimately tied for 20th in the field with a two-day score of 10-over 154.
  • Parker Pruitt took two strokes off his first-round score with a six-over 78, racking up a two-day mark of 14-over 158 for 34th place.
  • Dominic Cahill posted a 12-over 84 in round two, slotting in a tie for 43rd with a tournament mark of 18-over 162.
  • Mason Ellis birdied a pair of holes en route to a 13-over 85 on the day and a 30-over 174 for the weekend, placing 63rd.
  • Grant Ferrier carried SU's drop score for the round, a 14-over 86. Ferrier's two-day of 33-over 177 was good for 65th in the field.
 
The Sea Gulls will see their final action of the fall at the Lancaster Bible 36-Hole Invitational on Sunday and Monday Oct. 27-28. Tee time of each round from the Lebanon Country Club in Lebanon, Pa. is 12 p.m.
