NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Salisbury University track and field teams each earned podium positions by finishing third at the 2024 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Indoor Championships following the second and final day of competition on Saturday at the Freeman Center on the campus of Christopher Newport University.

The Sea Gull women hit triple digits with 102 points, trailing champions CNU (198) and second-place UC Santa Cruz (140) while besting Mary Washington (34) and Pratt (18).

The Sea Gull men clocked in with 81 points behind CNU (202) and UCSC (141) and in front of Mary Washington (62) and Pratt (4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
Men
- Rashawn Markman shattered the school and C2C championship record in the triple jump, breezing to his second gold of the weekend at 14.70 meters (48-2.75). Coupled with his victory in the long jump on Friday, Markman was named C2C Men's Field Athlete of the Meet for the second time in his career. Markman earned the same honor at the 2022 Indoor Championships and missed the 2023 indoor meet with an injury.
- Ryan Temple, Hayden Myers, Thomas Niblock, and Mike Heinz combined to give SU one more gold medal in the 4x400-meter relay, breaking the tape in 3:26.88 to repeat as C2C champions in the event.
- Andrew McGinley cleared 1.93 meters (6-4) in the high jump to win a silver medal. Dylan Haun placed fifth in the event at 1.75 meters (5-8.75).
- Heinz (51.15) earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter run, while Myers (52.00) and Temple (52.05) each earned points by finishing fifth and sixth, respectively.
- Peyton Dill grabbed third in the pole vault at 3.66 meters (12-0).
- Mason Cassady (23.42) crossed the line in fourth in the 200-meter dash, followed by Aaron Dufresne (23.45) in fifth.
- The distance medley relay team of Alec Velleggia, Niblock, Graham Schultz, and Declan Burke finished fourth in a time of 11:00.94.
- Dufresne (7.15) and Jacob Shelton (7.17) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 60-meter dash finals.
- Schultz took fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.45.
- Logan Kelsch finished sixth in the shot put at 12.74 meters (41-9.75).
- Liam Kessell (12.42m, 40-9) grabbed sixth place in the triple jump.
Women
- Anna Bodmer continued her historic winter by breaking her own school record in the 3,000-meter run in 10:13.14. The mark also bested the previous C2C championship mark and earned her a silver in the event. Bodmer has combined to break the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters five times during the indoor season.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Mia Hill, Peri Nelson, Madison Lamb, and Karia Forvil crossed the line second in 4:15.07, less than three seconds off the winning pace.
- Kennedy Atkins won the bronze in the 60-meter hurdles in 10.12 seconds, while Taleah Williams (10.42) finished sixth.
- Nelson snagged a third-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:26.47.
- Forvil finished fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.10 seconds, followed soon after by Marlyse Haack in sixth in 27.66 seconds.
- Forvil (8.03) and Williams (8.48) earned points in the 60-meter dash by taking fourth and sixth, respectively.
- Hill (1:01.22) finished fifth in the 400-meter run.
- Rachel Roberts (10:51.23) earned a fifth-place position in the 3,000-meter run.
- Kailey Jarboe slotted sixth in the shot put at 9.51 meters (31-2.5).

- Select Sea Gulls will return to Newport News for the CNU Qualifier event on Sunday, Feb. 25, seeking to improve their marks for potential national qualification.
