Track & Field locks in at Delaware State Invitational

DOVER, Del. – The Salisbury University track and field teams returned to action for the second straight weekend and looked sharp at the Delaware State Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Men
  • Kai Smith authored a pair of podium finishes, winning the 400 meters in 48.91 seconds and taking third in the 200 meters at 21.43 seconds.
  • Mike Heinz (51.18), Ryan Temple (51.37), and Hayden Myers (51.88) finished sixth, eighth, and ninth in the 400 meters, respectively, giving the Sea Gulls four top-10 finishers in the event.
  • Alec Velleggia crossed 10th in the 800 meters in 2:08.93, followed by Rajan Turner (2:09.29) in 11th and Declan Burke (2:12.02) in 12th.
  • SU swept the top four positions in the 1,500 meters. Brett Parker broke the tape in 4:17.06, followed by Burke (4:18.00), Garrett Saboy (4:19.84), and Connor Kinch (4:20.04).
  • Kinch won the 3,000 meters in 9:17.80, with Landon Lewicki (9:29.21) cracking the top five in fourth.
  • Bryce Tucci (17.07) and Jeremy Linden (17.15) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 110 hurdles. Linden also crossed eighth in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.69.
  • The 4x100 relay team of Jacob Shelton, Mason Cassady, Aaron Dufresne, and Smith earned a fifth-place finish in 42.08 seconds.
  • Dylan Haun captured the bronze in the high jump (1.72m, 5' 7.75"), while Peyton Dill did the same in the pole vault (3.50m, 11' 5.75").
  • JJ McCauley (13.67m, 44' 10.25") placed third in the shot put, followed by Mason Breeze (13.06m, 42' 10.25") in fourth.
  • Logan Kelsch rolled to a gold in the discus throw at 50.48m (165' 7"), with Jacob Reeves (39.53m, 129' 8") coming in sixth.
  • Reeves won the hammer throw at 47.87m (157' 1"), with Breeze (45.33m, 148' 9") and Kelsch (44.71m, 146' 8") taking third and fourth, respectively.
  • Reeves earned silver in the javelin throw at 47.01m (154' 3") and McCauley took fourth in 43.54m (142' 10").
Women
  • Karia Forvil crossed in third place in the 200 meters in 26.21 seconds. Taleah Williams finished close behind in sixth in 27.23 seconds.
  • Lily Rupp turned in a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters (2:35.53), followed closely by Alyssa Santoro (2:37.56) in eighth and Madi Sisson (2:39.76) in ninth.
  • The Sea Gulls placed in four straight positions from second-through-fifth in the 1,500 meters. Leah Snyder (5:06.42) was best of the bunch, followed by Sisson (5:16.54), Santoro (5:17.36), and Rachel Roberts (5:26.06).
  • Anna Bodmer broke the tape in the 3,000 meters in 10:36.67.
  • Kennedy Atkins (16.51), Williams (17.13), and Kathleen Mulligan (17.18) finished seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively, in the 100 hurdles.
  • Madison Lamb took fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:12.41. Lamb also recorded a second-place finish in the high jump at 1.59m (5' 2.5").
  • Emma Christman posted a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at 10.50m (34' 5.5").
  • Kailey Jarboe recorded a trio of top-10 finishes in the throwing events. Jarboe notched a fourth-place distance in the hammer throw (34.12m, 111' 11") and took seventh in the discus throw (32.33m, 106' 1") and eighth in the javelin throw (18.18m, 59' 8").

  • The Sea Gulls will celebrate Senior Day at their second home meet of the season, hosting the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
