Track & Field repeats as 4x100 champs at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The Salisbury University men's track and field team secured Philly gold for the second straight season with a historic run at the 128th annual Penn Relays on Saturday evening at Franklin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The 4x100 relay team of Jacob Shelton, Hayden Myers, Aaron Dufresne, and Kai Smith secured a repeat title for the Sea Gulls in the Eastern Collegiate race, breaking the tape in a time of 41.67 seconds, an improvement of four hundredths of a second over last year's mark.
  • Shelton and Smith ran the first and anchor legs, respectively, in the 2023 race as well, with Sherrod Frye and Ryan Kramer in the middle two.
  • In the Eastern Collegiate 4x400 relay, Smith, Myers, Ryan Temple, and Mike Heinz lived up to their billing, matching their third-place seed with a third-place finish in 3:16.95. The quartet finished just 46 hundredths of a second off the winning mark.
