Track & Field begins Ebanks Invitational at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Salisbury University track and field teams opened up the 2024 Dalton Ebanks Invitational with high marks and a few personal records along the way on Friday at George Mason University.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
MEN
  • With the best long jump of the Division III competition, Rashawn Markman finished tied for second overall and extended his personal record to 7.09m (23.' 3 1/4").
  • Finishing second overall and with the top Division III time, Kai Smith ran a 21.66-second time in the 200m.
  • Both Logan Kelsch and Mason Breeze set new personal records in the hammer throw. Kelsch took seventh at 47.93m (157' 3") and Breeze ninth at 45.20m (148' 3"). Jacob Reeves rounded out the Sea Gull throwers at 42.38m (139'), which placed him 14th.
  • In the final men's event for the Sea Gulls for the night, Connor Kinch placed 11th in the 3000m steeplechase with a 9:51.04 race. Tristan Dutton finished with a time of 10:19.80 to come in 19th. 
WOMEN
  • Taking fourth overall and the top Division III spot in the long jump with a personal record of 5.64m (18' 6") was Mia Hill.
  • Against a stacked open high jump field, Madison Lamb finished 12th at 1.45m (4' 9"). She also finished 28th in the 400m hurdles at 1:15.03.
  • In the hammer throw Kailey Jarboe placed 20th with a 32.03m (105' 1") effort.
  • Karia Forvil, Marlyse Haack, and Julie Thomas each represented Salisbury in the 200m, finishing with times of 26.52, 27.49, and 27.61 seconds, respectively.
  • Up against a field of 86 competitors in the 800m, Peri Nelson finished with a time of 2:27.07 to place her 46th.
  • Rounding out the day for Salisbury was Anna Bodmer in the 5000m, placing ninth at 17:55.94, nearly eclipsing her personal record.
 
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury finishes up at the Ebanks Invitational on Saturday, beginning with the women's javelin throw beginning at 10 a.m.
