Bodmer breaks fourth school record as Track & Field makes last push at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. – Anna Bodmer broke her fourth school record this season as she and other select members of the Salisbury University track and field teams made one last push up the national leaderboards at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday at the George A. Hansell Track.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women
  • Anna Bodmer capped a sensational freshman campaign by breaking the school record in the 5,000 meters, finishing 10th in the field with a time of 17:38.50 that topped the old record by over 12 seconds. Bodmer adds the outdoor 5,000 meters to a burgeoning record collection that includes the outdoor 10,000 meters (37:13.80), indoor 3,000 meters (10:13.14), and indoor 5,000 meters (17:55.14).
  • Rachel Roberts also set a personal record in the 5,000 meters, taking 16th in 18:18.48, while Madi Sisson finished 25th in 19:10.22.
  • Peri Nelson cracked her personal best in the 800 meters, crossing in 28th place in 2:23.89.
  • Marlyse Haack notched 5.50 meters (18-0.5) in the triple jump, finishing third.
Men
  • Kai Smith won the 200 meters, narrowly missing out on a PR at 21.17 seconds.
  • Aaron Dufresne finished 25th in the 100 meters (11.30) and 33rd in the 200 meters (23.21).
  • Logan Kelsch snagged a second-place finish in the discus throw at 49.89 meters (163-8).
  • Jacob Reeves took 10th in the javelin throw (50.54m, 165-9) and 12th in the discus (44.06m, 144-6).
UP NEXT
  • With qualifying season over, the Sea Gulls will await to see who gets chosen for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on May 23-25.
  • The top 22 athletes in individual events and top 16 relay teams will be revealed via press release on Friday.
