HAGERSTOWN, Md. –
Ryan Henneman finished his round a single stroke back from the top of the leaderboard, pacing the Salisbury University men's golf team on the first day of the Cardinal Fall Classic, hosted by Catholic on Saturday at Black Rock Golf Course.
The Sea Gulls capped the opening round in ninth place among 14 teams, shooting a 16-over 304 as a team. SU will return to action on Sunday within three strokes of fifth-place Moravian (301) and one back of a three-way tie for sixth in Juniata and the Catholic "A" and "B" teams (303).
GAME NOTES
- Ryan Henneman shot a three-under 69 in the opening round, tying for second in the overall field of 76. Henneman matched Morgan Dehoff of Shepherd for second and is just one stroke behind Shepherd's Trey Rios for the clubhouse lead.
- Parker Pruitt is tied for 21st after shooting a three-over 75 for round one.
- Mason Ellis shot a seven-over 79, good for a 51st-place tie, and Grant Ferrier sits in 59th with a nine-over 81.
- Dominic Cahill shot an 11-over 83, good for a tie for 61st, for SU's drop score in the round.
The Sea Gulls will cap their weekend at Black Rock with round two of the Cardinal Fall Classic on Sunday. Tee time is slated for 9 a.m.
