Nest to Nest | Addison Sage, Women’s Golf

SALISBURY, Md. – This is "Nest to Nest," a recurring series spotlighting the big miles and bigger stories of the Sea Gull student-athletes on each team who traveled the farthest to be at Salisbury University. This week, we meet SU women's golf's Addison Sage, who takes us down to the Piedmont Triad for some great hills and great barbeque.

Addison Sage | Fr., Women's Golf
Hometown: High Point, North Carolina
Population: 116,926
Distance from Salisbury: 381 miles

What would you say your hometown is known for?
High Point is actually known for furniture. It's one of the furniture capitals of the world, and they host a big furniture market [High Point Market] twice each year. It's also the hometown of Cook Out.

What's your favorite hometown hangout spot?
It might be Cook Out! There's not much to do, so everybody down there will just go and hang out at the Cook Out parking lot together.

Which local sports teams do you root for?
I love the Carolina Panthers. I follow them the most.

How did you hear about Salisbury University?
My old golf coach Randy Mercer actually played lacrosse here once upon a time. He recommended it to me when he heard the university was starting a golf team.

What's the biggest difference between life in your hometown and life here in Salisbury?
It's pretty similar, to be honest. The people here are super nice, just like back home. The big thing here is there's no hills; it's all really flat.

What's something you can turn to that reminds you of your hometown on the days when you miss it?
I have a lot of pictures of my friends and family back home, and that's definitely something I like to look back at and remind myself of what's there for me.

How would you sell someone on visiting your hometown?
I would sell it on the great people. There's also some great barbecue! It's a little different from up here but it's delicious. High Point is just a really cool place.
