Women’s Golf sets another record to cap Bridgewater Inv’l

Four Sea Gulls shoot in 80s for program-best 342

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Two weeks after shooting its lowest collective round in program history, the Salisbury University women's golf team outdid itself in the second and final round of the Bridgewater Invitational on Tuesday at the Lakeview Golf Course.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 54-over 342 as a team, shaving nine strokes off its first-round total and four strokes off the program record (346) set on Sept. 9 at the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational. Coupled with Monday's results, Salisbury posted a 117-over 693 for the two rounds, holding off the Southern Virginia B-team (694) for sixth in the field of eight.
 
ROUND NOTES
  • Krista Brosius improved six strokes from her Monday total, shooting a nine-over 81 with birdies on the first and fourth holes. Brosius finished 21st on the individual leaderboard of 50, shooting a 24-over 168 for the tournament.
  • Sydney Lynott finished in a tie for 27th individually, shooting a 17-over 89 on the day for a 28-over total of 172.
  • Addison Sage shot a 14-over 86 for the round, one stroke lower than her first-round score and good for a 29-over 173 for the two days. Sage placed 29th overall.
  • Emma Wivell gave SU four scores in the 80s for the round, besting herself by 11 strokes from Monday with a 14-over 86 to finish in a tie for 37th at a 39-over 183.
  • Caroline Fitzgerald posted Salisbury's drop score for Tuesday with a 29-over 101, finishing 44th at a 51-over 195 overall.
 
The Sea Gulls will return to action at its only in-state tournament of the fall, visiting Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace for the two-round Alvernia Invitational on Oct. 14-15.
