THE RUNDOWN

The Salisbury University men's basketball team chases its third conference championship and its first since the 2014-2015 season at the 2025 Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Championships on its home floor, welcoming Christopher Newport, Mary Washington and UC Santa Cruz to Maggs Gymnasium for the weekend tournament. The second-seeded Sea Gulls face the third-seeded Eagles at approximately 4:30 p.m. with a spot in Saturday evening's title game on the line.

  • Salisbury finished the regular season with a 16-9 overall record, logging the most wins in a single season in the tenure of head coach Mo Williams. The Sea Gulls have defended their nest well in 2024-25 with a 10-4 record inside Maggs Gym.
  • After dropping the season opener against No. 7 Randolph-Macon, the Sea Gulls rattled off three straight wins over Notre Dame (Md.), St. Mary's (Md.) and Johns Hopkins to improve to 3-1. SU bounced back from a road loss to Eastern with four consecutive victories, capped with an overtime win at No. 8 Gettysburg on Dec. 7th.
  • Salisbury dropped a pair of games in December's home stretch, but won four of its final five in the month to conclude 2024 with an 11-4 overall record. After falling to VWU at home, the Sea Gulls logged four straight wins including a 70-63 triumph over C2C foe UC Santa Cruz.
  • The Sea Gulls broke a late-season slump with a 91-53 win over Mid-Atlantic Christian on Senior Day, honoring graduating members Jordan Oates, Brendan Davis, Reed Rebstock and Kedrick Frink.
  • Mary Washington finished the regular season with an 11-14 overall record, falling to No. 10 CNU in the regular season finale.
  • The last win for the Eagles came against Salisbury inside Maggs Gym on Feb. 18th, 70-65.
  • Mary Washington is led by the 2025 C2C Rookie of the Year Kye Robinson (13.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 43.9% 3PT) and All-C2C First Team forward Jay Randall (12.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 15 blocks)
  • Salisbury holds the edge in the all-time series against Mary Washington, touting a 48-42 record against the Eagles dating back to Feb. 8th, 1981.
  • UMW has won nine consecutive games in the series, including postseason victories in each of the last two seasons.
  • SU held a 10-game win streak in the series from Feb. 8th, 2014 to Dec. 9th, 2017.
  • UMW won the first-ever meeting by a 73-72 decision, while Salisbury claimed seven of the first nine clashes.
  • The winner of the Salisbury-Mary Washington matchup punches its ticket to Saturday's championship game, played at 7 p.m. inside Maggs Gym.
  • Salisbury is seeking its third conference championship in program history. The Sea Gulls reached the semifinals last season under sixth-year head coach Mo Williams and aim to take the next step in 2025.

  • Graduate forward Jordan Oates was named the 2025 C2C Defensive Player of the Year and an All-C2C First Team selection, marking his third straight “of the Year” honor after being named the C2C Scholar-Athlete of the Year each of the last two seasons. Oates cemented his status as one of Division III's greats in 2024-25, averaging career-highs in points (18.4) and rebounds (12.9) en route to a 19 double-double campaign, the second-most in Division III this season. He leads the C2C in rebounds, rebounding average, defensive rebounds, blocks (45), blocks per game (1.8), and minutes per game (33:18).
  • Senior guard Kedrick Frink has provided an immediate impact for Salisbury after transferring in from Washington (Md.), earning an All-C2C Second Team spot after averaging 12.0 points per game at a sharp 52.7 percent clip from the floor, sixth-best in the C2C and first among guards averaging four or more makes per game. He also ranks second in the C2C in free-throw percentage (76.7) and finished the regular season on a tear, averaging 16.3 points on 61.3 percent shooting, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists across the final three games.
  • Graduate guard Brendan Davis served as SU's primary facilitator before going down to injury, averaging just shy of 10 points per game and finishing second in the C2C in both assists (97) and assists per game (4.6) while swiping a career-high 34 steals. He dished out four or more assists in 16 contests this season including a career-high 11 helpers in his first career double-double on Jan. 18th against Gwynedd Mercy. His 1.87 assist-to-turnover ratio ranked third in the C2C.
