MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Salisbury University track and field teams wrapped up St. Patrick's Day weekend with solid performances on day two of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
The Sea Gull men finished tied for 7
th place with 48 points out of 30 programs from all Divisions. Appalachian State took home first place with 142 points, while UNC-Wilmington and Coastal Carolina placed second and third.
The Sea Gull women earned a 9
th place finish with 30 points also out of 30 programs from all Divisions. Appalachian State also took home first place, while fellow Division I programs Coastal Carolina and Gardner-Webb placed second and third.
Meet Notes Men
- Declan Burke posted a PR in the 1500-meter with a time of 4:07.21, which placed him 19th.
- Dominic Roddy and Hayden Myers both posted PRs in the 400-meter. Roddy placed 11th with a time of 49.42, while Myers placed 12th with a time of 49.48.
- SU placed two in the top 10 of the 800-meter as Justin Freeman took home 6th place with a PR time of 1:55.65. Graham Schultz earned 9th place with a time of 1:56.63.
- In the 400-meter hurdles, Alexander Nelson placed 11th with a PR time of 57.94, while Jude Rykaczewski tallied a PR at 58.47, earning 13th place. Andrew Moxley also earned a PR with a time of 1:01.40, which placed him 23rd.
- Aaron Dufresne posted a PR in the 200-meter at 22.54, earning 17th place.
- The Sea Gulls placed two in the top 10 in the 3000-meter as Tristan Dutton earned a PR in 6th place with a time of 9:47.02. Connor Kinch tallied a season best, taking home 8th place with a time of 9:47.44.
- The 4x400 relay team of Dominic Roddy, Justin Freeman, Graham Schultz, and Hayden Myers earned a season-best time of 3:22.44, which earned 3rd place.
- Logan Kelsch snagged 2nd place in the discus at 51.30 meters (174-09).
- Jadon Gaines earned 5th place in the high jump at 1.95 meters (6-04.75).
Women Meet Notes
- In the 400-meter hurdles, Brooke Hamer tallied a PR with a time of 1:07.38, which earned her 8th place.
- Leah Snyder posted a PR in the 3000-meter with a time of 12:14.48, earning 6th place.
- The 4x400 relay team of Lilly Williams, Marlyse Haack, Karia Forvil, and Emma Smyser earned 4th place with a time of 4:03.36.
- Smyser also finished 2nd in the B flight of the pole vault at 3.15 meters (10-04.00)
- Haack and Emma Christman tallied top 10 finishes in the triple jump. Christman earned 9th with a season best at 11.09 meters (36-04.75.). Haack placed 10th at 11.01 meters (36-01.50), which was a PR.
The Sea Gulls return to action on March 29
th when they travel to Newport News, Va., for the CNU Invitational.
