WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University men's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the week by making serious moves in the second round of the Ruckus, hosted by Premiere Collegiate Tournaments on Sunday at the Williamsburg National Golf Club.
The Sea Gulls improved by a field-best 27 strokes from round-to-round, shooting a 22-over 310 for a two-day score of a 72-over 647. Ranking 11th in the team standings after Saturday, SU moved into ninth by leapfrogging 10th-place Nazareth (648) and 11th-place Ursinus (652).
ROUND NOTES
- Ryan Henneman made his first collegiate hole-in-one, recording the ace on the par-three fifth hole from 175 yards out. Henneman shot a three-over 75 on the day with his ace and two birdies, a four-stroke improvement over Saturday, to finish tied for 24th on the individual leaderboard with a 10-over 154.
- Alex Langford shaved a whopping 11 strokes off his round one score, shooting a team-best one-over 73 with three birdies for the day. Langford's 13-over 157 for the tournament tied him for 31st.
- Peter Carnegie shot a seven-over 79 with two birdies, a four-stroke improvement, to end up in a 42nd-place tie.
- Dominic Cahill knocked eight strokes off his score with an 11-over 83, totaling a 30-over 174 for 58th. Mason Ellis posted the team's drop score with a 22-over 94, placing 62nd with a 42-over 186.
- Parker Pruitt and Ben Bowen each competed as individuals in the field. Pruitt shot a 13-over 85 and tied for 50th with a 23-over 167. Bowen posted a 10-over 82 – down three strokes from Saturday – good for 53rd place.
The Sea Gulls will get back to work at the two-day DeSales University Spring Classic, set to be held on Friday and Saturday at the Olde Homestead Golf Course in New Tripoli, Pa.
