Men’s Golf in middle of crowded DeSales Spring Classic pack

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's golf team spent the opening round of the DeSales Spring Classic right in the middle of a crowded pack of top-half contenders, completing the tournament's opening round on Friday at Olde Homestead Golf Club.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 27-over 315 for the day, tied for seventh in the 13-team field with Ursinus. SU wrapped the day just one shot back of sixth-place Muhlenberg (314) and three back of Arcadia and Lancaster Bible (312) for fourth.
 
ROUND NOTES
  • Alex Langford birdied the first hole of the course, plus the 12th and 16th, on the way to shooting a team-best three-over 75. Langford sits just outside the individual top 10 after round one, tied for 11th in the field of 68 golfers.
  • Ryan Henneman registered a five-over 77, including birdies on nine, 11, and 12. He sits tied for 19th on the leaderboard.
  • Ben Bowen eagled the five-par 12th hole and added a pair of birdies on 11 and 16 en route to a seven-over 79 that tied him for 29th after round one.
  • Peter Carnegie and Parker Pruitt matched each other with 12-over 84s and two birdies apiece, tying for 47th individually. Carnegie birdied on 16 and 17, while Pruitt did so on 12 and 16.
 
The Sea Gulls will close the book on March with the second and final round of the DeSales Spring Classic on Sunday. Tee time is slated for approximately 11 a.m.
