HERSHEY, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's golf team finished just nine strokes off the lead with a strong showing at the single-round Elizabethtown Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Hershey Country Club East.
The Sea Gulls shot a 40-over 324 as a team, good for fourth place in the field of 10 and six strokes clear of fifth-place Albright (330). The placement marked SU's best finish in a team leaderboard this season. Elizabethtown (315), Moravian (316), and Catholic (320) comprised the top three.
ROUND NOTES
- Ryan Henneman tied for fifth in the individual field of 62, shooting a seven-over 78 with birdies on eight and 14. Henneman finished just two strokes behind the tournament's winner en route to his second top-five finish this year.
- Peter Carnegie played his round one back of Henneman with an eight-over 79, including a birdie on 18, to finish tied for ninth.
- Alex Langford placed in a 14th-place tie with a 10-over 81, birdying on eight.
- Parker Pruitt and Mason Ellis shot identical 15-over 86s for the day, finishing tied for 37th.
The Sea Gulls will wrap up the spring slate by hosting the inaugural Sea Gull Invitational on Sunday, Apr. 13, and Monday, Apr. 14 at Green Hill Country Club in Quantico, Md. Tee time for both rounds is set for 10 a.m.
