Men’s Lacrosse secures three major ECAC honors; four named All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team garnered three major postseason honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) with four named to the All-ECAC squad, announced by the league on Wednesday morning.

Brice Bromwell earned Offensive Player of the Year honors while John DeFazio garnered Defensive Player of the Year praise and head coach Jim Berkman was named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Connor Herraiz and Blake Malamphy joined Bromwell and DeFazio on the All-ECAC team.

Bromwell, a senior midfielder from Woolford, Md., piled up 113 points on 51 goals and 62 assists in a collegiate finale to remember, boasting a 2.82 assist-to-turnover ratio with just 22 turnovers in 21 games. The Cambridge-South Dorchester product and youngest member of the Bromwell tree finished eighth in team history in career goals (176) and points (293) as well as ninth all-time in assists (117).

DeFazio, a graduate defenseman from Mountain Lakes, N.J., wrapped a storied Sea Gull career as one of the best defensive talents in Division III, totaling 455 ground balls and causing 212 turnovers while logging 12 goals and 29 assists. The Mountain Lakes product finishes fourth all-time in DIII in career caused turnovers (since the stat began begin tracked in 2010) while logging four consecutive seasons with 90 or more grounders and 30 or more forced turnovers.

Berkman and his staff guided the Sea Gulls to a second consecutive unbeaten regular season and an eighth consecutive conference title, including a fifth straight win in the conference title bout over Christopher Newport. The squad reached the 42nd NCAA Tournament in program history including 37 consecutive tournament berths and witnessed yet another Sea Gull great join the professional ranks in DeFazio.

Herraiz, a junior attacker from Succasunna, N.J., joined the Sea Gull fold as a transfer in 2025 and hit the ground running, finishing second on the team with 83 points on 30 goals and 53 assists. He posted three or more points in 17 of his 21 games played including 14 consecutive games from March 1st to April 30th.

Malamphy, a junior faceoff specialist from Annapolis, Md., claimed 63.5 percent of his tries at the X with 157 ground balls. SU's top FOGO finished with career marks in goals (8) and points (10) to earn All-America praise. The Archbishop Spalding product ranks ninth on the active DIII leaderboard in career ground balls (481) and 25th in career grounders per contest (7.63).
