LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University men's lacrosse team saw two Sea Gulls claim national positional player of the year honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) while nine were crowned All-Americans, as announced by the association on Thursday afternoon.
Brice Bromwell was named the Fran Mcall Outstanding Midfielder of the Year while
John DeFazio was tabbed 2025's William C. Stiles Memorial Outstanding Defenseman. The dynamic duo locked down spots on the first team, while
Jeremiah Stafford earned a second-team selection and
Riley Strub finished with third-team honors. SU also garnered five honorable mentions in
Connor Herraiz,
Brady Mancha,
Bryce Stevenson,
Nicholas Ransom and
Blake Malamphy.
Bromwell, a senior from Woolford, Md., becomes the second Sea Gull midfielder in as many seasons to earn positional laurels after
Jack Dowd '24 claimed the honor last season. Brice becomes the second member of the family to be named Division III's most prolific midfielder after his older brother,
Jarrett Bromwell '22, received the award in 2021 and the 11th different Sea Gull to be named Midfielder of the Year (with 16 total honorees including repeat recipients).
The third chapter of the Bromwell story at Salisbury closed emphatically with one of the best campaigns in the SU midfield in recent memory. Bromwell totaled 113 points on 51 goals and 62 assists, turning the ball over just 22 times in 21 outings to tout a 2.82 assist-to-turnover ratio. He finished his Sea Gull career ranked eighth in team history in career goals (176) and points (293) while securing 10th in helpers.
DeFazio, a graduate student from Mountain Lakes, N.J., claims the first National Defenseman of the Year nod for Salisbury since
Kyle Tucker '18 was acknowledged in consecutive seasons, 2017-18. After becoming the second defenseman in program history to earn National Player of the Year honors last season, DeFazio represents the ninth Sea Gull to earn the defensive positional praise and the 14th total award winner.
DeFazio earned an All-American nod for the fourth consecutive season, finishing with 90 or more ground balls and 30 or more caused turnovers in a fourth consecutive season while tallying a career-high 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. The newest member of the Premier Lacrosse League's Maryland Whipsnakes scooped 110 ground balls and caused 45 turnovers across 21 starts in 2025, finishing fourth all-time in Division III in career caused turnovers (212) since 2010.
Stafford, a junior long-stick midfielder from Darien, Conn., was SU's most disruptive defenseman yet again in 2025, disrupting a team and career-high 49 possessions while adding 58 ground balls and tacking on a trio of assists. He posted one of the best single-game efforts by a Sea Gull pole in 2025, piling up a career-high eight caused turnovers against Ohio Wesleyan on March 11th which stands as the most CT's in any single game by a Sea Gull in over 15 years.
Strub, a junior midfielder from Darien, Conn., led the Sea Gull scorers with 69 goals on the campaign while adding on 12 assists to finish third on the team in points behind only Bromwell and Herraiz. He led the Sea Gulls with nine man-up tallies in 2025 while logging three or more goals in 16 different contests.
Herraiz, a junior attacker from Succasunna, N.J., brought 199 points worth of offensive production from Cabrini down Route 13 to Sea Gull Stadium, finishing second on the team with 83 points on 30 goals and 53 assists. The three-time All-American posted three or more points in 17 bouts including a 14-game streak spanning March 1st to April 30th.
Mancha, a junior defensive midfielder from Salisbury's Parkside High School, headlined the short-stick room admirably in 2025, shutting off top threats on opposing teams while adding eight ground balls and four caused turnovers to go with his third career assist and fifth career point. Mancha caused a pair of turnovers and added a ground ball in SU's 12-9 win over Christopher Newport on Senior Day.
Stevenson, a junior defenseman from Severna Park, Md., earns the All-American nod fresh off his best season yet as a Sea Gull, boasting 69 ground balls and causing 38 turnovers while firing his first four career goals during the campaign. He finished with career-highs in every statistic en route to his first career postseason All-America nod.
Ransom, a graduate student from Prince Frederick, Md., concluded one of the best careers of any Sea Gull between the pipes with another excellent season, boasting a 7.78 GAA with 167 saves at a 54.2 percent clip while winning 20 games for the third consecutive season. He finishes his Sea Gull career with a 61-2 career record, piling up 507 career saves (ranking fourth in program history) at a 55 percent rate.
Malamphy, a junior faceoff specialist from Annapolis, Md., patrolled the dot well for Salisbury, winning 63.5 percent of his battles with 157 ground balls while adding career marks in goals (8) and points (10) in 2025. He ranks ninth among active DIII student-athletes in career ground balls (481) and 25th in career grounders per game (7.63).
The program's nine USILA All-Americans trails last year's total by just one, bringing the team's all-time total to 301.
