Men’s Lacrosse secures three IMLCA All-Americans; Seven named All-Region

Bromwell, DeFazio, Strub now officially unanimous All-Americans in 2025

DURHAM, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) recognized Salisbury University men's lacrosse standouts Brice Bromwell, John DeFazio and Riley Strub as 2025 All-Americans while seven Sea Gulls were named to the All-Region 3 team as announced by the organization this week.

In addition to their First-Team All-American praise, Bromwell and DeFazio were named the Region 3 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively. They joined Second-Team All-American Strub and Connor Herraiz on the region's first team while Jeremiah Stafford and Bryce Stevenson were picked for the second team and Blake Malamphy was tabbed an Honorable Mention.

Bromwell, a senior midfielder from Woolford, Md., joins DeFazio in finishing his Sea Gull career as a unanimous First-Team All-American across the USILA, USA Lacrosse Magazine and the IMLCA. He became the 11th Sea Gull midfielder and the second Bromwell after his brother, Jarrett Bromwell '22, to be named the USILA Fran Mcall Outstanding Midfielder of the Year after logging a mammoth 113 points on 51 goals and 62 assists.

At the helm of the SU offense, Bromwell turned the ball over just 22 times in 21 games to boast a 2.82 assist-to-turnover ratio. The third chapter of the Bromwell legacy at SU finishes his career ranked eighth in team history in goals (176) and points (293).

DeFazio, a graduate defenseman from Mountain Lakes, N.J., finishes his fourth straight season with All-American honors and his second straight as a unanimous first-teamer after chasing down 110 ground balls and causing 45 turnovers while adding 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. He surpassed 90 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers for the fourth consecutive campaign.

DeFazio left his mark on the career record book in Division III, concluding his career ranked fourth nationally in career caused turnovers (212) since 2010. He became the latest Sea Gull to join the professional ranks following the season, signing with the Premier Lacrosse League's Maryland Whipsnakes.

Strub, a junior midfielder from Darien, Conn., toted one of the squad's most dynamic sticks once again in 2025, leading all Sea Gulls with 69 goals on the year while tacking on 12 assists. His 81 points trailed only Bromwell and Herraiz, while his nine man-up scores led the maroon and gold.

Strub garnered All-American honors from all three major outlets for the first time in his career after earning second-team praise from USA Lacrosse Magazine and third-team honors from the USILA. With 118 career goals in 52 career games, Strub stands just 30 tallies away from joining the program's top 15 career scorers.

Herraiz, a junior attacker from Succasunna, N.J., led the Sea Gull attack with 83 points on 30 goals and 53 assists in 2025, trailing only Bromwell in points on the season. The three-time All-American topped three points in 17 contests including a 14-game streak spanning March 1 to April 30.

Stafford, a junior long-stick midfielder from Darien, Conn., made opposing scorers sweat all season long with a team and career-high 49 caused turnovers. He added 58 ground balls and a trio of assists. He posted one of the best single-game efforts by a Sea Gull pole in recent memory in 2025, stacking an absurd eight caused turnovers against Ohio Wesleyan on March 11 for the most CT's in a single game by a Sea Gull in over 15 years.

Stevenson, a junior defenseman from Severna Park, Md., rolled out his best career season in 2025 with 69 ground balls and causing 38 turnovers. He also tallied his first four career goals, finishing the season with career-highs in every statistic en route to his first postseason All-American choices.

Malamphy, a junior faceoff specialist from Annapolis, Md., continued to prove his status as one of the nation's best faceoff men, winning 63.5 percent of his duels with 157 ground balls and career-highs in goals (8) and points (10). He ranks ninth among active DIII student-athletes in career ground balls (481) and slots 25th in career grounders per game (7.63).
