Salisbury welcomes Anna Hackett as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Assistant coach Bull set to return on staff as well

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University is pleased to announce Anna Hackett as the new Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Hackett, an esteemed alumnus of Salisbury University, will be rejoining the Sea Gulls, bringing her extensive experience and history with the team.

Hackett brings a wealth of experience to this position, having both coached and played at the professional level. Most recently, she served as a Varsity Girls' Basketball Volunteer Assistant Coach at Clarksburg High School in Montgomery County, Md. During her tenure from September 2024 to March 2025, she played an integral role in leading the team to numerous achievements, including becoming the Montgomery County Public Schools County Champions and Maryland 4A West Regional Champions. The team also advanced to the MPSSAA Class 4A State Championship Semifinals. Her responsibilities included practice planning, player skill development, game day preparation, and leading team film sessions. Additionally, she successfully supervised the school's community-wide basketball clinic, positively impacting about 60 young athletes.

Anna's connection to Salisbury University runs deep, having previously served as a Girls' Basketball Clinic Coach there in 2014. During her time as a student-athlete at Salisbury University from 2011 to 2015, she distinguished herself as a four-year starter and leading scorer, and a two-time Team Captain. Her exceptional performance earned her the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association and D3hoops.com All-American honors in 2015. Under her leadership, the team secured the Capital Athletic Conference Championship and made it to the NCAA Division III Elite 8. She remains Salisbury University's second all-time leading scorer with 1,802 points and third all-time in assists with 515.

In 2025, Hackett further expanded her basketball career as a Semi-Professional Basketball Player with the Women's American Basketball Association's Lady Wolves in Baltimore, MD.

Aprile Preller-Guy, Head Coach of the Salisbury University Women's Basketball team, expressed her enthusiasm about Anna Hackett's return, stating, "I am thrilled to welcome Anna back home to SU as our new Assistant Coach. She brings great knowledge and passion for the game of basketball with a work ethic that I know will make an immediate positive impact on our Women's Basketball program both on and off the court."

The Sea Gulls will also be welcoming back part-time assistant Alex Bull, who has just finished her time at Salisbury as a four-year member of the women's basketball program. Bull, the dual major in early and elementary education from Eldersburg, Md., posted a 4.00 GPA while starting all 23 games she appeared in this past season, averaging 6.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She also earned C2C All-Conference Second Team Honors.
