SALISBURY Md. – Coming off the season-opening win on the road against Washington & Lee, the 8th-ranked Salisbury University football team looks to move to a 2-0 record as the Sea Gulls take on the Green Terror of McDaniel College on Saturday, Sept. 13th. Kickoff from Westminster, Md., is set for 2 p.m. at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium.

The Series: This is the fourth meeting between the two programs on the gridiron. The Sea Gulls have won the last two meetings by multiple scores. In 2023, SU won 59-20, and last season on Senior Day, the Sea Gulls ran away 69-13. The long Green Terror win came in 1998 with a score of 36-17.
Last Time Out: The No. 7 Salisbury University football program began the 2025 season with a commanding 42-21 win over Washington & Lee University Saturday afternoon on Wilson Field.
SyRus McGowan tallied 430 yards of offense and four total touchdowns. The Sea Gull offense posted 463 yards of total offense, 205 on the ground and 258 through the air. Offensively, the Gulls averaged 9.1 yards per play. The SU defense created two turnovers with one interception and one turnover on downs.
Jimmy Celenatano, Kilo Mack, Patrick Sheil, and
Colin Wargo all posted nine total tackles.
Jordan Scipio posted five solo tackles along with a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
The Captains: Seniors
Micah Brubaker, Andrew Gioia, Chris Clarke, and
Oliver Morgan were named game day captains for the Sea Gulls heading into week two against the McDaniel Green Terror.

Salisbury improved on its preseason vote total by picking up 425 points, well ahead of ninth-ranked UW-La Crosse (395) and just behind seventh-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor (442).

SyRus McGowan generated 340 yards of offense with four TDs (two rush, two pass), while
Daniel Clark and
Dario Belizaire teamed up for 201 receiving yards and found the endzone once each.
The Class of the NJAC: Since joining the NJAC in 2015, Salisbury has won 65 games in the conference. The 65 wins stand as the most wins among active teams in the conference. Since joining the NJAC in 2015, Salisbury has won six conference championships, which is the most in the eight years.
Among the Greats: Salisbury head coach
Sherman Wood ranks in the top-15 of active coaches in wins, regardless of NCAA Division. After earning NJAC and AFCA Region 2 Coach of the year honors, Wood would go on to earn his first AFCA National Coach of the Year honor in his 32nd season as a head coach.
In 2024, Wood guided Salisbury to a 12-1 record, the New Jersey Athletic Conference title, and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the Division III playoffs. The Sea Gulls recorded their fifth undefeated regular season and sixth quarterfinal appearance. Wood, the all-time wins leader at Salisbury, has a record of 194-80 with the Sea Gulls and an overall record of 215-119-1 when you include his six seasons at Bowie State.
Offensive Powerhouse: Hansen Ratings was proud to announce the release of its 8th annual 2024 Division III Football Analytical All-American teams. Salisbury head coach
Sherman Wood was named Coach of the Year, while
Ryan Fleetwood earned Offensive Coordinator of the Year honors.
Tre Price earned First-Team All-American,
Tony Mason earned Second-Team,
Dusty Krotee earned Third-Team, and
Chris Clarke earned Fourth-Team.
Wood led the Gulls to a 12-1 mark this season, earning one of the top four seeds in the national tournament, a No. 5 finish in the AFCA Top 25 poll, and a No. 6 ranking in the final D3football. com Top 25. Salisbury defeated multiple Top 25 teams, earning Wood NJAC Coach of the Year and AFCA Coach of the Year.
Fleetwood led the charge of one of the most prolific offenses in the country for Division III. The Sea Gull offense ranked 5th in total yards last season, third in yards per play, and third in total touchdowns.
Scouting the Green Terror: A 35-yard field goal by Brent Fardette III with three seconds remaining gave Catholic a 10-7 victory over the McDaniel College football team Friday night at Cardinal Stadium in the season opener for both teams.
The Green Terror (0-1) forced five punts, three turnovers, and had three sacks, but were hampered by 11 penalties for 100 yards. One of those penalties was a block in the back that negated a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Sophomore Jayden Booker totaled 191 yards of total offense with 135 passing and a team-high 52 rushing with one touchdown. Senior Grayson Wendel hauled in four catches for 94 yards, including a 78-yard pass from Booker down to the Catholic 1-yard line late in the third quarter. However, he also had a 44-yard reception down to the Catholic 2-yard line, which was negated by pass interference.
Catholic totaled 64 of its 129 yards rushing on the final drive, eating up over six minutes of clock. Chris Smith carried the ball five times for 46 yards, finishing the game with seven carries for 61 yards.
Graduate student Malachi Murphy led the defense with 11 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups. Williams had six tackles and one interception in his collegiate debut, while junior Chris Wilson also had a pick for McDaniel. Senior Montez Chapman Jr had four tackles and one sack.
