Swimming maintains top-25 status; Men’s Lacrosse hailed third in preseason media poll

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the fourth Wednesday in January, featuring continuing coaches' poll positioning for Salisbury men's and women's swimming and a preseason bronze medal for men's lacrosse.
 
Men's Swimming – 17th | CSCAA Division III Top 25, Jan. 2026
Salisbury held the fort within the top 20, earning 150 points to place just shy of No. 16 Case Western Reserve (154) and ahead of No. 18 Tufts (123). SU also held onto its No. 10 rankings in the Swimcloud dual and championship metrics.
 
The Sea Gull men steamrolled Catholic 201-61 in its penultimate dual meet of the season. Owen Mahoney broke the program record in the 1,000 freestyle as part of a two-gold medal day that earned him New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimmer of the Week laurels.
 
SU wraps up the regular season against Delmarva Peninsula rival Washington College on Friday, with first events from Chestertown slated for 6 p.m.
 
Women's Swimming – 23rd | CSCAA Division III Top 25, Jan. 2026
Salisbury boasted its highest-ever January ranking with 43 points, just clearing No. 24 Case Western Reserve (41) and back of No. 22 Middlebury (52). In the Swimcloud metrics, SU slotted 13th in the championship and 18th in the dual rankings, respectively.
 
The Sea Gulls kept the late-season momentum going with a 198-62 triumph at Catholic on Saturday. Rowan O'Donoghue captured NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the sixth time with three gold medals and one silver, while Libby Miyashita established a new program record in the 200 butterfly.
 
SU heads north to face in-state foil Washington College in its final regular season tune-up on Friday at 6 p.m.
 
Men's Lacrosse – 3rd | USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top 20, Preseason
Salisbury will begin the season on the podium in the eyes of the sport's most respected media rankings, trailing only two-time defending national champion Tufts and rival Christopher Newport, with Dickinson and Bowdoin rounding out the top five.
 
The Sea Gulls are coming off a 20-1 record, Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) title, and NCAA Tournament third-round berth in 2025. SU – which boasts a Division III-best seven USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-Americans – will play its first three games away from Salisbury, beginning on Saturday at Eastern. Sea Gull Stadium returns to life for the team's home opener against No. 9 Gettysburg on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m.
