Salisbury shot up from fourth to second with 564 points and three first-place votes, landing on the doorstep of Trinity (Texas) [573, 17 first-place] at the top. Denison (560), Lynchburg (548), and Johns Hopkins (463) rounded out the top five.
The Sea Gulls won a pair of pitchers' duels over the weekend, outclassing TCNJ 5-2 on Saturday and Arcadia 3-2 on Sunday. Salisbury's pitching staff didn't allow an earned run over all 18 innings of action, and
Charlie Hartman delivered a signature moment with a walk-off single in the ninth to beat Arcadia.
SU has four games on the docket this week. Following a Wednesday road tilt at Virginia Wesleyan, Salisbury hosts a doubleheader against North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. before heading to Baltimore for a top-five showdown with Johns Hopkins on Sunday.
Women's Lacrosse – 3rd | USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top 20, Mar. 2
Salisbury cemented itself at No. 3 in the main media poll, with the rest of the top five (Middlebury, Tufts, Colby, Franklin & Marshall) remaining unchanged.
In the latest IWLCA poll, SU moved up from eighth to fifth.
The Sea Gulls rolled to a pair of impressive back-to-back victories over the weekend, bouncing Washington College 16-10 on Saturday and then-No. 9 Washington & Lee 13-6 on Sunday.
Julianna Ott scored nine goals between the games to earn Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) and
IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week honors, while
Abby Fleishell secured C2C Defensive Player of the Week.
SU pays a visit to Messiah on Wednesday before hosting Shenandoah in its annual One Love Game on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside Sea Gull Stadium.
Men's Lacrosse – 5th | USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top 20, Mar. 2
Salisbury held onto a top-five slot in the media poll, landing between No. 4 Lynchburg and No. 6 York (Pa.).
In the USILA rankings, SU slotted sixth.
The Sea Gulls endured their first regular season loss in three years on Saturday, falling to then-No. 10 Lynchburg 14-11 at home. SU will now turn around and face York at Sea Gull Stadium in another top-10 showdown on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Men's Indoor Track & Field – 13th | USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field Rating Index, Mar. 3
Salisbury's 42.39 points in the coaches' metrics was good for 13th to open the new month, flanked at No. 12 by TCNJ (48.67) and No. 14 by John Carroll (38.68).
The Sea Gulls will have their final indoor tune-up before nationals on Friday and Saturday at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships at the Armory in New York City.
Softball – 25th | NFCA/GoRout Division III Top 25 Poll, Mar. 3
Salisbury remained in the national rankings with 15 votes, just behind 24th-ranked Belhaven (31) and ahead of Central and Swarthmore just outside the top 25.
The Sea Gulls went 2-2 over their opening weekend, besting then-No. 25 Swarthmore twice and bowing twice to TCNJ.
Karlie Wolfe led the way at the plate, batting .455 with three doubles, while pitcher
Carly Angstadt didn't allow a run over 9.2 innings in the circle.
SU readies for a busy weekend at the Raleigh Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C., where the team will play six games over Friday through Sunday.
