Baseball skyrockets in NPI; Women’s Lacrosse maintains top-two status

SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the fourth Wednesday in April, featuring elite metrics for women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, and baseball.
 
Women's Lacrosse – 2nd | Division III Women's Lacrosse NPI, Apr. 19
Salisbury (15-0) increased its NCAA Power Index metric to 76.168, though fellow undefeated side Middlebury (77.737) jumped up to the top slot, with Tufts, Wesleyan (Conn.), and Amherst rounding out the top five. SU also held at No. 2 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll and No. 4 per the IWLCA.
 
The Sea Gulls rolled through in-state rival St. Mary's (Md.) 23-8 on Saturday. Audrey Harrington led the way up front with seven points on three goals and four assists, while Miranda Mears netted four goals and four others notched hat tricks.
 
SU will host No. 21 Christopher Newport in its regular season finale on Saturday. Senior Day festivities will lead into a 1 p.m. opening draw control at Sea Gull Stadium.
 
Men's Lacrosse – 6th | USA Lacrosse Magazine Division III Top 20, Apr. 20
Salisbury dipped from fifth to sixth in the media poll, landing between No. 5 York (Pa.) and No. 7 Wesleyan (Conn.). SU also posted up seventh in the USILA rolls and 11th in the NPI.
 
The Sea Gulls dropped a tight 12-9 decision to then-No. 4 CNU on Saturday. SU responded with a 22-11 drubbing of Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday and will wrap up the regular season in the War on the Shore against Washington (Md.) on Friday at 7 p.m. inside Sea Gull Stadium.
 
Baseball – 12th | D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, Apr. 21
Salisbury bounced back from 13th to 12th with 351 points, well clear of No. 13 CNU (297) and on the heels of No. 11 Kean (376). SU made massive moves in the NPI, rising 19 slots from 36th to 17th.
 
The Sea Gulls registered an impressive 3-0 week with triumphs over then-No. 5 Shenandoah, Neumann, and Mary Washington. Jay Newton hit an impressive .833 for the week to win Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Week, while Aidan Brinsfield earned C2C Pitcher of the Week laurels after his complete-game victory over UMW.
 
SU opened the new week by dispatching York (Pa.) 14-5 on Tuesday. Salisbury will play host to St. Mary's on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., followed by road bouts at Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday and No. 13 CNU on Saturday.
