Napolitano, DeLisle lead Salisbury to 8-0 victory over Gallaudet

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 17 Salisbury University men's soccer team tallied its sixth consecutive shutout Tuesday afternoon as they defeated the Bison of Gallaudet University, 8-0, in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The Sea Gull defense has held their opponents scoreless for the last 598 minutes.

SU (7-0-0, 1-0-0 CAC) was led by sophomore Mike Napolitano (two goals) and sophomore midfielder Ben DeLisle (two goals, one assist) who both registered two goals in the second half. Freshman forward Sam Forline (one goal, two assists), junior midfielder Alex Hargrove and junior defensemen Benjamin Reed (one goal, two assists) and Kevin Mongello all contributed a goal in the win.

The Bison (0-6-0, 0-1-0 CAC) were guided by goalkeeper Poloko Qobose who tallied 19 saves on the day. Qobose made a number of fine stops early in the game as the Sea Gulls only led 2-0 at halftime. SU poured it on in the final 15 minutes of play with four goals. The maroon and gold blasted 50 shots, 27 on goal, as the Bison were held to no shots.

Salisbury continues the home stand on Saturday, September 20, at 2:30 p.m. against Lynchburg College in a non-conference match.
