SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 17 Salisbury
University men's soccer team tallied its sixth consecutive shutout
Tuesday afternoon as they defeated the Bison of Gallaudet
University, 8-0, in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for both
teams. The Sea Gull defense has held their opponents scoreless for
the last 598 minutes.
SU (7-0-0, 1-0-0 CAC) was led by sophomore Mike
Napolitano (two goals) and sophomore midfielder
Ben DeLisle (two goals, one assist) who both
registered two goals in the second half. Freshman forward
Sam Forline (one goal, two assists), junior
midfielder Alex Hargrove and junior defensemen
Benjamin Reed (one goal, two assists) and
Kevin Mongello all contributed a goal in the
win.
The Bison (0-6-0, 0-1-0 CAC) were guided by goalkeeper
Poloko Qobose who tallied 19 saves on
the day. Qobose made a number of fine stops early in the game
as the Sea Gulls only led 2-0 at halftime. SU poured it on in the
final 15 minutes of play with four goals. The maroon and
gold blasted 50 shots, 27 on goal, as the Bison were held to
no shots.
Salisbury continues the home stand on Saturday, September
20, at 2:30 p.m. against Lynchburg College in a non-conference
match.
