Box Score TOWSON, Md. - The Salisbury University women's
basketball team had three players score in double figures Saturday
afternoon and shot nearly 42 percent from the floor as a team, but
came up a bit short in its game at Goucher College, falling 67-59.
The Sea Gulls (5-2, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) opened the
game on a 13-3 run and never trailed in the first half, taking a
33-26 lead into the break. But the Gophers (4-5) were able to chip
away at Salisbury's lead in the second half, taking their first
lead more than five minutes into the second period.
After Goucher stretched its lead to 12 points, the Sea Gulls
battled back with an 18-6 run, over six and a half minutes, tying
the game at 59-59. But Salisbury could not retake the
lead, suffering just its second loss of the season.
Salisbury got a season-high, 18-point effort from sophomore
guard KC Curran (Malvern,
Pa.), who connected on 4-of-7 three-point field goal
attempts. Senior forward Kylie Hall (Baltimore,
Md.) added her sixth double-double of the season with
16 points and 16 rebounds while senior forward Janay Johnson (Baltimore,
Md.) came up with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Glen Charlton (Landover,
Md.) dished out a team-high five assists to go with
nine points.
Goucher was led by Elizabeth von Ende, who scored a game-high 20
points.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action for their final game of
2009 on Saturday, Dec. 19, when they travel to Washington (Md.)
College.
