Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University
men's soccer team picked up its second victory in Capital Athletic
Conference play with Wednesday's win over Marymount (Va.)
University. The Sea Gulls improved their record to 7-0-2 overall
and 2-0 in the CAC.
The Sea Gulls won the game, 3-0, scoring all three goals in the
second half. They outshot Marymount (2-5-1, 0-1-1 CAC) 28-4 in the
game.
Junior midfielder Stafford
Chipungu had a busy day as he scored one goal and
assisted another. Chipungu put Salisbury on the board with its
first goal of the game. Senior forward Mike
Napolitano had the assist on the goal. Napolitano
sprinted downfield and passed the ball up to Chipungu who planted
the ball in the back of the net.
Less than 10 minutes later Chipungu kicked a pass to freshman
midfielder Jake
Perry who beat the keeper for the Sea Gulls' second
goal of the day.
Salisbury's final goal, capping the 3-0 win, came on a cross
from freshman forward Trevor
Sharpe to junior forward Ian Wilson.
Wilson took the cross and fired a shot past the Marymount defense
into the goal.
The Salisbury defense held strong allowing only three shots on
goal in the game. Sophomore goalkeeper John
Vnenchak played all 90 minutes and saved all three
shots on goal that he faced.
The Sea Gulls will hit the road on Saturday for their next game.
They are set to travel to Frostburg State University for
another CAC match. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
