SALISBURY Md. – The No. 2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team hosted No. 17 Roanoke College on Friday evening in non-conference play and took down the Maroons by a 14-6 final score to move to 10-0 on the season.

Brady Dashiell got things goings five minutes into the contest when James Burton took a dodge down the right side and found a cutting Dashiell open on the crease. Dashiell then put it home for his 12th of the season.

Less than a minute later, Thomas Cirillo scored with a low shot, but Will Pilat responded for the Maroons to cut the Gulls' lead back to one.

Brendan Bromwell scored one of his three tallies on the day with a minute left in the opening quarter to put Salisbury up 3-1 heading into the second.

Salisbury broke the door open in the second quarter, scoring five-straight goals in the first nine minutes to bring the lead to 8-1.

Nathan Blondino started the run when he got the Maroons' defense in a difficult situation, having the ball behind-the-cage with no one on him. With the defense hung, Blondino dodged to his left and tucked a tight shot to the top shelf for the goal.

Each team recorded one more goal in the quarter to bring the score to 9-2 at the half.

The third quarter saw the Maroons gain momentum and chip away at the Gulls' lead. Roanoke pieced together four goals in the quarter. However, Dashiell and Blondino each scored in the quarter to keep the lead out of reach.

On the day, Blondino finished with four goals and one assist to be the game's high scorer.

Roanoke opened the scoring in the fourth, but three unanswered Salisbury goals brought home the 14-6 victory.

The defensive effort for Salisbury all game was key to the victory. The Gulls had more than twice as many groundballs as the Maroons (34-16), and held them to just 14 shots on goal.

Andrew Ternahan had a big outing, causing three turnovers, while scooping up five groundballs. Many of the groundballs came in the middle of the field off faceoffs as Duncan Campbell stayed hot and went 14-for-19 from the X, while also grabbing five groundballs.

Aaron Leeds also stood out on the defensive end, notching five groundballs and causing a turnover.

Joshua Dean got the start in net and picked up the win with four saves in 36:50 minutes. Colin Reymann came on in relief for Dean and also recorded four saves.

The Sea Gulls are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, March 26 as they host Capital Athletic Conference-foe Southern Virginia University. The game is set for 1 p.m.
