SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University men's lacrosse captured its second consecutive Capital Athletic Conference victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Southern Virginia University, 22-9.

The No. 11 Sea Gulls (8-3, 2-1 CAC) scored six goals in the opening 15 minutes of action behind two goals apiece from Emory Wongus and Corey Gwin. Gwin got the scoring started for Salisbury, netting his first of two markers for the afternoon just over three minutes into the contest. Wongus followed suit less than a minute later, netting the first of his team-high five for the day.

The Sea Gull offense didn't let up in the second quarter, netting seven more goals to take a 13-4 lead into the break. Overall, nine different Salisbury players tallied goals in the first half, with Wongus leading the way with four. Kevin Lacon scored one of his two tallies in the second quarter to push the maroon and gold lead to 7-2. Jarrett Bromwell netted Salisbury's only man-up goal of the afternoon, which the Gulls went 1-for-2 on, during a 6-1 scoring run to close out the first half. 

Pierre Armstrong both opened and closed the scoring for the third quarter while the Knights (7-4, 1-2 CAC) scored three times in the quarter, their highest goal output in any quarter of the afternoon. 

Griffin Moroney, who finished his afternoon with four goals, netted three in the second half, including two in the final quarter less than three minutes apart to build the advantage to 21-7. It is Moroney's first multi-goal game since the Sea Gulls 20-2 victory over Kenyon College back on March 7. 

Both T.J. Logue and Brett Malamphy were equally as impressive from the face-off X, combining to go 26-for-33 as Logue won 16 and Malamphy won 10, respectively. They also scooped up seven groundballs apiece to add to their stat lines.

Defensively, the unit combined to force 18 turnovers by Southern Virginia while recording a combined nine caused turnovers, with Kyle Tucker posting a team-high two as well as picking up a team-best eight groundballs. 

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 when it travels to No. 15 Christopher Newport University. Face-off between the Sea Gulls and Captains is scheduled for 7 p.m.
