SALISBURY, Md. – The third-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team finished its Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) schedule undefeated after a 29-14 victory over the Southern Virginia Knights on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Salisbury began the day with three unanswered goals to begin the game. Griffin Moroney netted a goal in the first 30 seconds of the game on an assist by Josh Melton before unassisted tallies by Cross Ferrara and Kevin Murphy. 
• A Ferrara goal sandwiched between two Southern Virginia goals cut the SU lead down to 4-2 at the 8:36 mark in the first quarter.
• Salisbury then scored 16 consecutive goals before the halftime break to blow the game open. SU scored 10 goals in both the first and second quarters to take a 20-2 lead at the half.
• Southern Virginia made a run in the second half to get back in the game, including a five-goal stretch in the latter part of the fourth to trim the deficit. But, Salisbury's lead proved insurmountable.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Cross Ferrara and Josh Melton led the flock with four goals and three assists.
• Jarrett Bromwell and Griffin Moroney both had a hat trick each
• Isaac Thrasher collected a pair of goals while Luke Harbottle, Pierre Armstrong, Jackson Woodward, Chris Gibbs, Luke Nestor, Braden Glushakow, Kevin Murphy, Quinton Young, Joe Carozza, Mike Ricciardi, Porter Lewis, Brett Malamphy, and Josh Sanchez all scored in the victory.
• Malamphy picked up a game-high 10 ground balls and won 17-of-23 faceoffs.
• John DeFazio scooped up four ground balls and caused a turnover.
• Ryan Brown, T.J. Ellis, and Eoghan Sweeney all grabbed three ground balls.
• Murphy caused a pair of errors for the Knights.
• In net, Matty Back stopped eight shots. Ellis saved five.
• Salisbury scooped up 55 ground balls compared to Southern Virginia's 38.

SOUTHERN VIRGINIA GAME NOTES

• Chandler Wescott tallied four goals for the Knights.
• Jaydon Arnold picked up eight ground balls for Southern Virginia.
• Carter Bean, Zach Danneman and Wescott all scooped up four ground balls each.
• Seth Millington caused three turnovers.
• Dalon Hampshire saved 15 shots in net.

UP NEXT

• As the top seed in the C2C Championship Tournament, Salisbury will host the C2C semifinal matchup on Wednesday, May 5 at Sea Gull Stadium against the lowest seed remaining.
