Women seventh, Men ninth at Mid-Atlantic Regional; three finish All-Region

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Salisbury University cross country teams both earned top-10 finishes at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Lock Haven University at the Stern Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.
 
The Sea Gull women earned a seventh-place finish with 243 points, their best team finish since taking seventh in 2006. SU edged out eighth-place Grove City (244) and ninth-place Gettysburg (247) for the position. Johns Hopkins (42), Carnegie Mellon (103), and Misericordia (130) earned the top three team slots.
 
The Sea Gull men cracked the top 10 for the third straight year, finishing ninth with 279 points. Carnegie Mellon (19), Johns Hopkins (66), and Marywood (80) earned the podium positions.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women
  • Anna Bodmer finished 27th in the field with a personal-best time of 22:23.5. She become the first Sea Gull women's runner to earn All-Region status since 2018.
  • Alyssa Santoro narrowly missed out on All-Region accolades, finishing 37th in 22:37.3.
  • Rachel Roberts (23:14.2) and Madi Sisson (23:16.4) each broke the top-60 by crossing 54th and 59th, respectively.
  • Peri Nelson (personal-best 23:41.8) took 70th place, while Leah Snyder (personal-best 23:43.6) finished close behind in 73rd.
  • Maddie Rathmann finished 145th in 25:48.5.
Men
  • Austen Cave captured All-Region accolades by finishing 33rd in a time of 25:41.6.
  • Matt Grossi became an All-Region honoree for the second time by taking 34th place in 25:45.2. Grossi also earned All-Region status in 2021.
  • Connor Kinch (26:14.1) secured 54th place, while Garrett Saboy (26:28.9) cracked the top 70 by taking 68th.
  • Sam Bodmer (26:55.0), Ryan Cascone (27:16.0), and Declan Burke (27:39.4) finished 97th, 112th, and 129th, respectively.
WRAPPING UP
  • With the cross country season in the books, the Sea Gulls will shift focus to indoor track and field. The first meet of the winter is the CNU Holiday Open in Newport News, Va., on Saturday, Dec. 2.
