SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University cross country teams sent their seniors out in style with dual wins at the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Winter Place Park.

The Sea Gull women took five of the top six positions for 17 points to run away with the team race. Stevenson finished a distant second with 95 points, followed by Alvernia (106), Mary Washington (111), and Wilmington (Del.) [140] to round out the top five.

The Sea Gull men placed five in the top 11 for 27 points and a comfortable team win. Wilmington (Del.) finished second with 64 points, with Mary Washington (80), Alvernia (120), and Stevenson (125) filling out the top five positions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Women
- Alyssa Santoro won the first cross country race of her career, breaking the tape in a season-best time of 22:30.6.
- Anna Bodmer (22:49.9) and Rachel Roberts (23:10.5) finished second and third, respectively, to help the Sea Gulls sweep the podium.
- Leah Snyder cracked the top five by placing fifth in a personal-best 23:52.4, while Peri Nelson finished right behind in sixth at 23:56.5.
- Maddie Rathmann finished 17th in 24:50.6.
- Erin Connelly (25:20.5) and Kristen Riddell (25:22.0) each placed top-25, taking 24th and 25th, respectively.
- Victoria Novak made it nine Sea Gulls in the top 30 by crossing 28th in 25:29.2.
- Connelly and Santoro were honored before the race as they competed at Winter Place Park for the final time in their careers.
Men
- Austen Cave led the Sea Gulls across the line by finishing second in a time of 25:29.6.
- Matt Grossi earned the bronze in 25:35.3, with Sam Bodmer crossing right behind in fourth in 25:48.0.
- Tristan Dutton earned ninth place in a personal-best 26:08.4, followed closely behind by Garrett Saboy in 11th in 26:13.4.
- Connor Kinch (26:31.1), Ryan Cascone (26:41.8), and Landon Lewicki (26:54.1) finished 13th, 14th, and 15th, respectively.
- Declan Burke (27:02.3) took 18th and Shane Ivy (27:09.6) 19th to give the Sea Gulls 10 top-20 finishers on the day.
- Senior runners Bodmer and Grossi were also honored before the race for Senior Day.
UP NEXT
- The Sea Gulls will compete in their final races of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Rowan Border Battle.
- The starting gun from Logan Township, N.J., will go off at 10 a.m.
