OXFORD, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's golf team put itself in position to finish on the podium at the inaugural Colonial Women's Golf Conference (CWGC) Tournament, whose first round was played on Monday afternoon at Wyncote Golf Club.
The Sea Gulls wrapped the opening round with a 70-over 358, squarely third in the field of six qualifying teams and 18 strokes better than fourth-place Kean (376). Babson (306) entered the clubhouse with the lead, while Christopher Newport (326) locked into second.
ROUND NOTES
- Krista Brosius posted a 10-over 82 after round one, shooting just two over with seven pars on the front nine. Brosius currently sits in a tie for eighth place in the field of 35 individuals and three strokes back of the top-five cut line to earn CWGC All-Tournament Team status.
- Sydney Lynott slots 14th with a 15-over 87, including Salisbury's only birdie on the day on par-three five. Lynott converted par on seven of the back nine holes.
- Emma Wivell shot a 22-over 94 to wrap up the day in 19th place, while Victoria Heid wrapped the day right behind Wivell in 20th at a 23-over 95.
- Addison Sage, along with CNU's Maddie Cameron, were disqualified from the round after mixing up each other's balls on the third hole; Sage finished the hole with Cameron's ball and vice versa.
The Sea Gulls will look to finish the fall season strong in the second and final round of the CWGC Tournament. The first tee times from Wyncote Golf Club are penciled in for 9 a.m.
