NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Salisbury University cross country programs traveled to Newville, Pa., for the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. The men's program earned a 6th-place finish on the 8k course out of 31 programs. The women's team placed 10th on the 6k course out of 28 programs.
Anna Bodmer, Austen Cave, and
Cormac Moroney earned All-Region honors for the Sea Gulls.
"I am very proud of how we competed today," Head Coach
Jim Jones said. "The men put our top seven runners in the top 58 and finished 6th overall, while the women really challenged themselves to have some outstanding performances to finish 10th. Austin and Cormac had strong races to earn All-Region honors. I was extremely proud of Anna finishing in the top 10, and it looks like she has earned a spot in the NCAA National Meet next week in South Carolina."
The Sea Gull men posted 177 points for the 6th-place finish, just five points behind Messiah University for a top-five finish. Johns Hopkins took home first place with 23 points.
Men's Meet Notes
- Cave earned a 24th-place finish with a time of 25:59.05.
- Moroney trailed just behind in 26th place at 26:05.84.
- Gabe Riling and Connor Kinch tallied 38th and 39th place respectively. Riling posted a time of 26:34.37, while Kinch posted 26:35.85.
- Tristan Dutton earned 50th with a time of 26:48.03. Landon Lewicki trailed just behind in 53rd with a time of 26:53.88.
- Seth Barron rounded out the SU runners in 58th with a time of 27:03.32.
The Sea Gull women posted 262 points for the 10th-place finish. Johns Hopkins also won the women's side with 42 points.
Women's Meet Notes
The Sea Gulls will await final timing to see who qualifies for the NCAA Division III Championships in Spartanburg, S.C., on November 22
nd. The runners competing will be announced tomorrow.
