No. 8 Field Hockey earns two major ECAC awards; three All-ECAC honors

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2025 Division III Field Hockey All-ECAC Team and major awards.

The Salisbury field hockey program saw Madelyn Reed earn Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach Dawn Chamberlin won Coach of the Year for the second straight year. Marli McDorman and Kelly Davis also earned All-ECAC honors. 

The SU field hockey staff was also honored with the Region III Coaching Staff of the Year award. Head coach Dawn Chamberlin and assistant coaches Lindsey BarbacowBrooke Tapman LohrMegan Block, and Hanna Tilghman helped clinch the first SUNYAC Championship title as a first-year associate member and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for the fourth straight year, finishing their 2025 campaign at 19-3 overall.

SU placed seven Sea Gulls on the All-SUNYAC Team and four on the NFHCA All-Region Team. The program also led the nation in shutouts (16), ranked No. 2 in goals-against average (0.49), tied for No. 5 nationally in goals per game (4.0), and tied for No. 6 nationally in winning percentage (0.864). Chamberlin also surpassed 600 career wins as a head coach this season.

Davis, the Salisbury, Md. native, was a big part of that in goal, starting every game for the Sea Gulls this year, boasting a 19-3 record with 16 shutouts and a goal against average of .58 and a save percentage of .784. Also helping lead the defense was Reed, the Felton, Del. native, who posted four goals with eight assists for a total of 16 points. She posted two game winners, leading one of the top mid-fields and defenses in the country, while also earning SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year and NFHCA First-Team All-Region.

McDorman, the Pocomoke City, Md. native, set new career highs in goals (18) and assists (14) on the way to the 50-point season. She netted three goals with one assist in the SUNYAC championship game against Cortland on the way to earning Tournament MVP, and is now a three-time First-Team All-Region honoree and a back-to-back Region Player of the Year. She also earned NFHCA First-Team All-Region as well as SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year. 

The ECAC is an eighty-six-year-old intercollegiate athletics organization with roughly 200 member schools for traditional sports across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II, and III - that exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in NCAA sports, and provide great value for universities, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments, and other competitions throughout the country. The ECAC also hosts a comprehensive esports program, with over 300 schools, 4,000 teams, and 10,000-plus participants in twenty-four different game titles.
