SALISBURY, Md. – Five Salisbury University student-athletes brought home Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Players of the Week accolades with weekly honors from the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) and New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
Women's basketball's
Nicole Miller secured C2C Player of the Week recognition, while swimming's
Owen Mahoney and
Isabelle Salvatore continued the Sea Gulls' dominance of the NJAC Rookie of the Week category, and track & field's
Isaiah Rivera and
Anna Bodmer swept the season's first C2C Track Athletes of the Week.
Nicole Miller | C2C Women's Basketball Player of the Week | Third Career (First This Season)
Miller (Jr. – Medford, N.J.) averaged 22.5 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals during the Sea Gulls' 1-1 week. In Wednesday's loss against Stevenson, she matched a career high with 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting with seven boards in 36 minutes of action. Then on Saturday at Marymount (Va.), Miller notched 17 points on 8-of-18 shooting to help SU pick up a key road win. She currently leads the C2C in scoring (17.4) and ranks fourth in field goal percentage (.472).
Owen Mahoney | NJAC Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week | Second Career
Mahoney (Fr. – Arnold, Md.) won two of the Sea Gulls' three gold medal's in Saturday's dual meet against Division I UMBC. Mahoney rolled to victory in the 400 free (4:06.77) and the 800 free (8:35.04), shaving 21 seconds off his previous best time in the latter.
Isabelle Salvatore | NJAC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week | First Career
Salvatore (Fr. – Wilmington, Del.) makes it six top women's rookie awards in six tries for the Sea Gulls this year after
Rowan O'Donoghue won it after their first five weekends in the pool. She secured a gold, silver, and bronze for the afternoon against Division I UMBC on Saturday. Salvatore finished first in the 100 back (1:06.84), second in the 200 back (2:26.41), and third as part of the 200 medley relay (2:01.91).
Isaiah Rivera | C2C Men's Track Athlete of the Week | First Career
Rivera (So. – Westminster, Md.) earned two gold medals at the Christopher Newport Holiday Open on Saturday. He broke the tape in the 400 meters in 51.31 seconds and contributed to the 4x400 meter relay team's winning time of 3:29.81, which ranks top-30 in Division III.
Anna Bodmer | C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week | Fourth Career (First This Season)
Bodmer (Jr. – Dickerson, Md.) won gold medals in two races, breaking school records in both, at the CNU Holiday Open. Bodmer started the day by winning the mile run in 5:06.93, then in the 3,000 meters she crossed the line first in 10:12.09. Bodmer currently ranks top-20 nationally in both events.
