Men’s Golf takes ninth over two-round Shenandoah Inv’l

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Salisbury University men's golf team finished stronger than it started over a marathon 36-hole day, finishing ninth at the Shenandoah Invitational on Monday at Winchester Country Club.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 32-over 316 over the first round of action before improving by 10 strokes in round two with a 22-over 306. SU's total of a 54-over 622 was good for ninth in the field of 14 strong teams, two strokes ahead of 10th-place SUNY Delhi (624) and just two back of eighth-place Hampden-Sydney (620).
 
ROUND ONE NOTES
  • Colton Thomas posted Salisbury's top score in the opening round with a five-over 76, shooting birdie on the first hole and par on 13 others.
  • Ryan Henneman carded one more stroke than Thomas with a six-over 77, including birdies on one, two, and eight.
  • Declan Gustavson posted a nine-over 80 with a birdie on 14.
  • Alex Langford and Cameron Nicholson each shot a 12-over 83 for the round. Langford posted back-to-back birdies on seven and eight, while Nicholson also recorded two straight birdies on 16 and 17.

The Sea Gulls will play their final tournament of the fall slate on Oct. 14-15 at the Alvernia Invitational, set to be staged at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md.
