Women’s Golf third through one round at Williamsburg National

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's golf team put up a solid round in its first competitive action of the spring at the Premier Collegiate Tournaments Ruckus on Saturday afternoon at Williamsburg National Golf Club.
 
The Sea Gulls shot a 71-over 359 as a team in the first of two rounds of the spring opener, good for third in the field of six teams and five strokes better than fourth-place Hartford (364). Drew (324) and Bridgewater (Va.) [342] sit well above the fray in first and second, respectively.
 
MATCH NOTES
  • Krista Brosius paced the Sea Gulls with a nine-over 81 for the round, including a birdie on the par-five seventh. She enters the clubhouse tied with three others for third in the field of 31 individuals.
  • Sydney Lynott posted top-10 marks in the opening round with a 17-over 89, good for 10th.
  • Emma Wivell finished right behind Lynott in 11th with a 19-over 91. She birdied on five and seven.
  • Victoria Heid shot a 26-over 98 to place 20th, while Kaeli Newcomb posted SU's drop score with a 33-over 105.
 
The Sea Gulls will look to finish their spring debut strong at the second and final round of The Ruckus on Sunday. Tee time is pegged for 10 a.m.
