ABBOTSTOWN, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's golf team put itself in prime position to capture its first modern-era team title, boasting an eight-stroke lead after round one of the two-round McDaniel Spring Invitational on Saturday at The Bridges Golf Course.
The Sea Gulls notched a 19-over 307 as a collective through the first 18 holes to vault to the top of the 10-team leaderboard. Goucher sits in second place at 315, with Hobart (317) and Stevenson (318) close behind in third and fourth, respectively.
ROUND NOTES
- Ryan Henneman entered the clubhouse sitting atop the individual field of 50 after shooting an even-par 72 for the round. Henneman balanced out four bogeys with four birdies, including on two of the last four holes.
- Cameron Nicholson made it two Sea Gulls in the top three with a three-over 75 with a pair of birdies, just one stroke back of second place.
- Gage Bandy tied for fifth after carding a five-over 77 with one birdie in the opening round.
- Alex Langford shot an 11-over 83 for the round, good for a tie for 20th.
- Colton Thomas posted the SU drop score with a 12-over 84 and sits tied for 26th heading into round two.
The Sea Gulls will look to close out the dub on the second and final day of the McDaniel Spring Invitational on Sunday. Tee time is penciled in for 12 p.m.
