Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The No. 10 Salisbury
University field hockey team remains unbeaten in Capital Athletic
Conference play with a 3-1 victory over Stevenson University on the
road Tuesday afternoon.
Junior forward Lauren Correll got on the
Mustang defense early as she scored two goals in the first eight
minutes of the game to give the Gulls an early 2-0 lead. Her first
goal, six minutes into the game, came off an assist from freshman
Tara McGovern. Correll's second goal was
unassisted.
Correll struck again 15 minutes into the second half as she took
a pass from freshman Alison Bloodsworth all the
way to the Stevenson cage for the hat trick. The three-goal game, a
season-high, marked Correll's fourth multiple-goal game of the
season. The All-American leads the team with 16 goals and 34
points.
Salisbury (11-3, 5-0 CAC) held Stevenson (7-9, 2-4 CAC) to just
three shot attempts and a late second half goal. Mustang Katelyn
Manocheh slipped a shot by SU goalie Anna Cooke
(7-1) on a pass from Emily Pullarn in the 60th minute.
The Sea Gulls amassed 29 shots as a team, their third highest
total of the season, as Stevenson goalie Kara Zimmerman made 13
saves in the loss.
Salisbury will close out conference play on Saturday, October
25, as the Sea Gulls host University of Mary Washington to Sea Gull
Stadium at 1 p.m.
