Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The No. 2 ranked
Salisbury University field hockey team continued its winning ways
on Sunday afternoon, defeating Capital Athletic Conference foe Mary
Washington, 3-0. The victory marks the Sea Gulls' ninth shut-out of
the season, as well as their seventh consecutive win.

racking up 19 shots compared to the Eagles' two. The Sea Gulls also
had 16 penalty corner opportunities, and forced Eagle goalkeeper
Chrissy Bowdren to make 10 saves. Mary Washington (11-6, 4-2 CAC)
could not capitalize on any of its three corner opportunities, as
Salisbury's rock-solid defense forced sophomore goalie Anna
Cooke (Ann Arbor, Mich.) to make only one save. Cooke
is on top of her game, as her goals against average of 0.61 (as of
Oct. 18, 2009) leads the nation in Division III field hockey this
year.

as she scored the first goal of the game in the 27th
minute; in the 48th minute, she dished out an assist to

the victory for the maroon and gold. On the season, Salisbury has
outscored its opponents a staggering 67-7.
The Gulls' win against CAC rival Stevenson University on
Oct. 20 secured them a first-round bye in the CAC tournament, which
is slated to begin on Nov. 4. Before the conference championships,
however, Salisbury will face Catholic University on Oct. 29 in its
last regular-season away game. The game is scheduled to begin at
3:30 p.m.
