Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The 20th-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team stumbled on the road, 1-0, to the Christopher Newport Captains on Wednesday in a Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Salisbury had back-to-back chances in the fifth and sixth minutes of the game. McKenzie Jamison's shot was saved by CNU keeper and McKenzie Mitchell's shot was blocked by the CNU defense.
- The SU defense turned away CNU's attack in the 19th minute. Two Madison Steele shots were saved by Dom Farrace.
- Rebecca Lloyd and Jordan Brooks had shots on goal on a penalty corner in the 27th minute. But shots were saved by CNU's Gabi Gray.
- Isabel Larrabee stepped up to keep the game scoreless in the 40th minute. Larrabee saved two straight shots by Abby Asuncion.
- CNU scored in the 48th minute of the game. A turnover in the defensive half allowed CNU to counterattack. Mauri Ware passed it ahead to Steele to give CNU the lead.
- Salisbury looked to score on penalty corners in the waning moments of the game but the CNU defense kept the threat at bay to take the win.

- Dom Farrace notched six saves in goal for the Sea Gulls.
- Isabel Larrabee tallied two defensive saves in the contest.
- Salisbury recorded 11 shots with six on goal.
CNU GAME NOTES
- Maddison Steele scored the lone goal in the game.
- Gabi Gray registered five saves.
- Marcella Sabbagh had a defensive save for the Captains.
UP NEXT
- Salisbury earned the second seed in next week's C2C Tournament.
- The Sea Gulls host the third-seeded Mary Washington Eagles on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 6 pm.
- The winner of Wednesday's contest will take on top-seeded CNU on Saturday, Nov. 6.
